Samir is passionate about solving complex problems in large markets, particularly within the field of sustainability. He enjoys working closely with entrepreneurs to help build real value in companies. 

Samir began his career in venture capital after moving to India in 2014, through his private investment office - Sattva Capital. Sattva has invested in over 30 companies across stages and sectors in the past five years, with several exits. Some of his notable investments include, ION Energy, iNICU, Beardo and Drinkwell. The investment office has since become known to bring strong value-add and a wealth of knowledge to its portfolio companies. 

Samir has been involved in global public and private markets for the past twenty six years, at leading institutions including Goldman Sachs (Hong Kong), Deutsche Bank (New York) and Saloman Brothers (New York). He graduated with an MBA (with distinction) from Wharton, and holds a Law degree and Bachelor of Commerce degree from Bombay University. He is a certified Chartered Accountant. 


Somak is passionate about engaging with entrepreneurs during the early stages of their journey. He loves discussing business plans and will spend hours brainstorming with teams to identify key challenges and come up with creative solutions.

Somak founded Contrarian Drishti Partners in 2014, a Mumbai-based venture capital fund focused on seed-stage, tech-enabled ventures, with several successful exits and a strong network of co-investors. Some of his notable investments include Pratilipi, Progcap, Signzy and Botmetric. Somak also sits on board of CleanMax Solar and Motilal Oswal's Real Estate fund. 


Somak was previously one of three professional co-founders of Yes Bank, heading up Corporate Finance and Development Banking. As a Co-Founder, he was a key member of the Bank’s Executive Management, the Management Credit Committee and the Asset Liability Committee for over eight years till 2011. He previously held positions at ICICI Bank, Reliance, Arcelor Mittal and Rabo Bank. Somak holds an MBA from FMS University, a Public Service Fellowship from Harvard, and a Bachelor of Engineering from Bombay University.



Aakash is passionate about building for the future. He spends time understanding emerging industries and new technologies, and thoroughly enjoys speaking to companies solving traditional problems in unique ways.

Aakash previously headed up the early-stage ventures arm of Sattva Capital, where he was responsible for sourcing, deal evaluation and ongoing monitoring of the portfolio, leading deals in Energy Web Foundation and Shortlist. Prior to Sattva, Aakash was jointly responsible for the Asia portfolio at Accion Venture Lab, where he led deals in consumer credit and SME lending. He is also the co-founder of NeonVest, a tech platform that connects high-quality, early-stage startups across sectors to a global investor base.  

Aakash previously spent three years as an Investment Research Analyst at Aksia, a New York-based hedge fund advisory firm with $150bn AUA, where he evaluated funds across long/short equity, credit and quant strategies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from NYU Stern, with a minor in Philosophy. 



Govind has an entrepreneurial mind set and loves brainstorming new ideas with founders. He has been part of the startup ecosystem in India for more than six years and has found his passion here. 

Govind was most recently the Associate Principal at Contrarian Drishti Partners, leading deals in Enterprise SaaS, Consumer Internet and Fintech. He was primarily responsible for deal evaluation and ongoing engagement with select founders, and led deals in six startups including Squad, Crediwatch and Wholesalebox. 

Previously, Govind was an Associate at Kshatriya Ventures, a family office involved in direct investing in Indian startups. Govind has also held roles at HDFC Life, where he focused on corporate strategy and strategic partnerships, and HSBC. He holds an MBA from Nirma University and has cleared all three levels of the CFA program.



Akshita is an out-of-box thinker and our resident communications expert. She loves to expand her horizons by reading incessantly and reaching out to companies that catch her eye.

Akshita was previously an Analyst at Sattva Capital, covering multiple sectors including Agri, Mobility, Energy and Education. In addition to deal analysis and meeting new companies, Akshita was responsible for sending out a regular macro monitor on the VC industry in India. 

In her previous role as a Research Analyst at Acuris Global, Akshita was conducting valuation and data analysis on global M&A deals, and writing macro reports on various sub-sectors, like autos in the U.S. and healthcare in Europe. She previously worked as a Management Trainee at L&T Infotech on the Corporate Finance team, supporting the IPO process. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from Somaiya University, and has cleared all three levels of the CFA program. She is a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
