November 27, 2023: Peak Sustainability Ventures partners with Sanjay Nayar to build India’s premier climate investment firm.

Peak Sustainability Ventures, one of India’s first early-stage climate focused investment firms, has partnered with Sanjay Nayar, a veteran in the private equity industry, to build India’s leading climate VC firm. As a General Partner, Sanjay brings his investment acumen, global networks and relationships to the fore. Together, Samir Shah, Sanjay Nayar and the Peak Sustainability Ventures team are focused on addressing some of the world’s most pressing problems in the climate landscape, using a thesis-driven investment approach to back innovative and scalable solutions.

Sanjay is a well-known leader in India’s private equity landscape, responsible for establishing and managing KKR India as its CEO for 11 years, building it to one of the dominant private equity firms in Asia. Prior to KKR, Sanjay was CEO of Citigroup’s India and South Asia operations. Over the past two decades, Sanjay has built a name as a seasoned investor in the Indian financial services sector.

Samir Shah, Managing Partner at Peak, has been actively involved in sustainability for the last 7 years, through his global investments, operating positions and ecosystem associations. He has been an early investor in several innovative sustainability companies, including VA Tech Wabag, GIST Impact, Waaree Energies, ION Energy, Drinkwell, Polymateria and Avant Wood, and has achieved several notable exits in his portfolio. Samir has 28+ years of financial markets experience, and is a well-recognized face in India’s sustainability landscape. He launched Peak Sustainability Ventures with a view to building an institutional firm that can bring India into the global climate conversation, helping scale Indian companies globally, and bringing global innovations to India.
